Title

Internal – Unable to change the selection in the Quest Selector when page is not checked out

Description

Please wait...

When you try to change selection in Quest Selector, you will get an error stating that the file is not checked out. In fact, you do not need to check out in order to change the selection.

Here is the step to reproduce:
You must have a document library with the following settings to test this. Open up the document library settings page and click the Versioning Settings. Check the Create Major Versions radio button on that page. Also, check Yes for “Require Documents to be checked out before they can be edited quesion?”.

Steps:
1. Click Site Actions > Create on the page.
2. Select Web Part Page under Web Pages.
3. Name the page and select the document library that I mentioned in the Precondition.
4. When the page is created, add a Quest Selector on the page.
5. Configure the Quest Selector and point it to the Tasks list and display the Title field.
6. Open up the AllItems.aspx for the document library that I mentioned in the Precondition.
7. Check in the page.
8. Open up the page again and change the selection in the persistent selector.
9. You will directed to a page and error saying that the “file is not checked out. You must first check out this document to make changes”.
10. In fact, you do not need to check out the document to make changes.
