When having multiple content types in a document library for example, within the qListForm there is no option to select the content type, only the first type is automatically selected

Cause
This is by the design on the tool.
Resolution
A workaround would be changing it by setting the order number in List Settings | open "Change New Button Order and Default Content Type" in the section "Content Type". The order number sets which content type is the default. Once this default content type is set, QWP will load the fields for this new content type.
