Description

INTERNAL: Can a Custom Action in qListform kick off a Workflow?

Please wait...

There is a List with a Custom Action (called 'Review') setup through qListForm. When you Edit a List item | click 'Review' in the Ribbon | a workflow should be kicked off which should update two fields in qListForm

What happens instead is that after clicking 'Review', the page refreshes and nothing changes (if you save the item those fields will stay blank). If you cancel the qListForm view, the fields are then updated as expected.

The workflow ONLY changes these values and writes to workflow history (it only updates the list item).

Cause

This scenario is unsupported. The Custom Action will not work as the workflow needs to be run first, completed and set the field metadata BEFORE qListForm can edit the item. We can't change values on an already opened form as what is happening in this scenario.
