I have the 5.2 version of discussion web part and have noticed that it’s changing the look of our webpages – specifically it’s doing something to the left hand navigation. The bar across the top is thinner, the blue background that normally runs down the left from top to bottom stops after the text (and is then white) – Also we can normally add a bit of CSS to a hidden content editor web part to hide completely the left hand navigation but the existence of the discussion web part on the page seems to undo this so we cannot make it invisible. Anyone know what we can here to fix this?

Further to this I notice that it doesnt happen if compatibility mode is turned on from my IE8 browser
Is there a problem with this webpart in IE8
