I hope I got right your question, you want to display a combobox control with checkbox items within it.
If tha's the case then this can't be done.

Is it possible to format the box that displays the selected items or make any other formatting changes to make it more clear which items have been selected while selecting additional items from a large lookup list? See below sample of the current configuration.

I have a qListForm with two columns that allow multiple selections from a lookup. I would like to display the selections as checkboxes so that it is possible to see which values have already been selected. Any suggestions?

It's not possible to change the visual presentation of the items selected already.
