Hi, we have attempted to install the qDiscussionView 5.2 version to our SharePoint farm (MOSS SP2 Std on MS Server 2003 x64 SP2) and have come across an interesting problem. Though the MSI package (qDiscussionViewWebPartforSharePoint64bit_52.msi) installs (or seems to install) correctly to all servers, the web parts are not available for use on the site. In the event logs we see that the package has ‘installed successfully’ and central administration shows it as being ‘deployed’ (we’re not seeing any errors): Name Status Deployed To quest.sharedwebparts.wsp Deployed (site name) However, the qDiscussionView webparts do not show up in the available list of webparts, even after SharePoint service and IIS resets. Has anyone seen this behaviour or have any suggestions as to what to look for in terms of troubleshooting? Thanks in advance for your help! Don

Hi Don

We have seen this behaviors once in a while. I believe you refers to the Web Part Gallery when you stated that "the web parts are not available for use on the site". The Web Parts are added to Web Part Gallery list when "Quest Web Parts for SharePoint" Feature is activated for the top-level site.

The Quest Web Parts installer automatically activates the Feature for you during installation, however there are times activation may fail or timeout. If this happens please follow the steps below to fix it:

1. On a top-level Web site, click Site Settings.
2. Under Site Administration click Site features
3. Locate Quest Web Parts for SharePoint and activate the feature.

The Web Parts available to you based on your license type should be available in Web Parts Gallery and from the "Add a web part" dialog box.
