I apologize in advance is this question has been ask. I am trying to change a cell color to red if the cell value is < today -365. where do I put these condition in the color appearance area?

It cannot control the cell color with this condition. Did you try to use the custom field? You can set some scripts in the Calculated Value, and that can control the style of the field.
