AnonymousParticipantYou bring up some good points regarding the changes Microsoft has made. The support of REST and OData is definitely something we have been discussing. As we build out the products Office 365 compatible versions providing support for this is going to be a key portion of that effort.

AnonymousParticipantHi Dan, what is the timeline here for OData in the cloud? Is it just under discussion or is this a real capability we can look forward to in the next 12 mths?
n
We see the need for REST and OData support across 'on-prem', 'hybrid' and 'cloud' implementations. Not just cloud. Will the on-prem version of QuickApps support REST?

AnonymousParticipantHello All,
n
Is there any plan to upgrade the SI web-parts to support REST/OData connectivity? MS seems to have standardised on REST over traditional SAOP based web service as the preferred api for connectivity across all their current products/platforms – Newsfeed, OneDrive for Business, Yammer, CRM, Project etc etc.
n
Being able to support REST services from the SI web parts would open up a vast array of possibilities for internal development and partner led engagements.
n
What do you all think??

AnonymousParticipantSupport will start with new product going forward as it's difficult to implement. As an example although OAuth is a standard, everyone does it differently. The time and effort to provide these features are best made in the cloud first. We are going to focus on the cloud first, and then bring those features to the on-prem product afterwards. This is also isolated to each product (web part) as well.
