When configuring a qListView web part the following error appears inside the web part browser window when the page is refreshed:

This view cannot be displayed because the number of lookup and workflow status columns it contains exceeds the threshold (8) enforced by the administrator.

Cause

The default list-view lookup threshold within SharePoint is set to 8. This error appears because the number of lookup columns configured within the web part has exceeded this number

Resolution

Microsoft do not advise that this number is changed however if the number needs to change then please do the following:

1. From SharePoint Central Admininstration to to Application Management - Manage Web Applications
2. Select the Web Application you want to modify.
3. The General Settings button above will become active. Click on the down arrow inside of this button and select resource throttling.
4. The list view lookup threshold is the value that needs to change to a number equal to or greater than the number of fields you have declared in the web part.
5. When changed click OK to save

If changing this variable does not fix the issue then you may need to install a hotfix for Quest Web Parts. The build number you will need is 2012.4.23 which was created with TFS number 200328 & 201452 in April of 2012.
