Can you copy and paste your configuration? It's hard to tell without any configuration information what the problem is.

We don't have that feature. We cannot mark messages as read or unread.

    Great (about expanding threads).
How about telling what messages I've already read?

By the way, is there any way to get the web part to start with all threads expanded, or configure it for flat view?

Quest Web Parts for SharePoint does not yet contain a Gantt Chart. There are several requests for that so we may do that in the future.
I assume that you use our Quest Calendar View webpart here. The only view that does not show the hours of the day in our Calendar View is the Month view. If you don't mind using the Month view, you can set it so that it starts in Month view and additionally, disable the other view in the Calendar Appearance tab in the web part configurator. I hope that works for you.

Yes there is. When configuring the discussion view, click the View Appearance tab. Change the "Expand to Level" property to a big number like 100. If you do that, all the thread will be expanded when the view is loaded for the first time (unless you have more than 100 levels of discussion).
We don't have flat view in the discussion view webpart and we are not planning to have it.

    Ah, my mistake.
I tried using 'Modify webpart' out of old habbit instead of choosing 'Configure'.

When I try to configure the webpart with a discussion board list, non is available to choose from.
I'm testing the x64 version running on a MOSS 2007 stand alone setup.

    Dennis,
I'm the Dev Manager for Quest Web Parts for SharePoint. Can you give me more information as what you meant by "none is available to choose from"? Did this happen when you try to configure the Viewed Lists property and you didn't see any discussion board list in the site?
    Regards,
    Eddy Ng

Hi Dennis, let’s work this out.
Sounds like maybe you didn’t add an existing discussion board. We use this as “the holder” of the content for our webpart.
So in this case I add a native discussion board first
    See Attached

Then I refer to it in the discussion view webpart that I place in my panel thru the configurator

Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

We recently got a request to add Active/Inactive flag to the sites listed in the rollup list. We will add that feature in the future. Is this what you meant by your request or you meant something else?

I really like Todd Klindt's idea here of using SharePoint instead of email attachments.
    Quoting Todd:

You've heard the old saying about how when all you've got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Well, I'm a SharePoint guy, so every time I see something I think to myself, "How would I do that in SharePoint?"
    [/quote]
This would be trivial with Quest's List Form Web Part with no need to go into SharePoint designer to create a custom workflow. The Form View part has email built-in, so you could whip this out in less than no time.
I guess my hammer of choice is SharePoint + Quest Web Parts.
